Veterinary Receptionist

Department: Support Staff (non-tech)
Location: Columbia, MO

Horton Animal Hospital Discovery in Columbia, Missouri is a growing 24 hour emergency hospital with general practice during regular business hours. We are looking for fulltime Client Care Specialist. Full time schedules are typically made up of 3 to 4 12-hour shifts per week (average 40-42 hours per week). Our management team of two hospital managers and two DVM chiefs of staff are dedicated to making this hospital a place where our staff feels respected, valued, and supported.

Overall Job Responsibilities:

The Client Care Specialist’s are the clients’ first and last impression of the practice. They are responsible for maintaining the day to day flow of the clinic, managing payments, communication with our clients, managing multiple phone lines, maintaining records, scheduling appointments, requesting and obtaining previous records and key information for patient care.

 

Specific Job Duties:

Responsibilities can vary based on the different needs of the clinic and include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Greeting Clients: Cordially greet arriving clients and patients

  • Client Communication and Relationships:  Must treat clients and patients in a cordial, calm, compassionate, and knowledgeable manner.

  • Scheduling Appointments: Schedule appointments for exams, rechecks, surgeries, euthanasia’s and medical procedures based on clinic protocol.

  • Processing Payments: Be able to advise clients on payment methods we accept (all credit cards, cash, and Care Credit) and how to process those payments.

  • Triage: Must be able to differentiate routine cases from emergency cases and how to direct clients/patients in these circumstances.

  • Computer Software knowledge: Develop proficiency in ezyVet and Microsoft applications. 

  • Medical Records Management: Employees must understand that record keeping is vital to proper patient care and ensure that all notations are being entered into the medical record. Must accurately maintain paperless records.

  • Other duties: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front lobby, cleaning exam rooms between each client, restroom/bathroom and reception area. 

  • Assist other staff with requested duties
